Process
The tattooing process is quite long and repetitive. Technically, it involves repeatedly puncturing the skin to deposit pigment beneath its surface. Each person reacts differently to the procedure: some feel more pain, while others feel almost nothing. It depends on individual characteristics, as well as physical and psychological condition.
You can read more below about how to properly prepare for the session.
What will be useful during the session?
Getting a tattoo, depending on its size and technique, can be quite a serious challenge. To make the time more comfortable while the artist works on your future tattoo, we recommend bringing:
A phone with headphones.
Your favorite music or a movie will help distract you from the process and let you “zone out.”
Sweets.
During the session, your body uses up sugar, which can cause your levels to drop. If you have favorite sweets, we highly recommend bringing them with you. Sugary carbonated drinks (not sugar substitutes) work great as well.
Clothing.
Depending on the placement, think about comfortable clothing. If you’re getting a tattoo on your shoulder blade, it’s not the best idea to wear a perfectly white blouse. Calf tattoo? Tight jeans aren’t ideal either. It’s better to choose loose, dark-colored clothing — and something warm, as you might start to feel cold during the session.
Food.
A large tattoo may take the whole day. Think in advance about what you’ll eat. You can bring your favorite meals from home or order delivery while you’re there.
A good mood.
It may sound simple, but a positive mindset can make this challenging day much easier.
